Honest to fucking goddess, I believe that Muse’s album The Resistance is the best album of 2009, at the very least. It’s utterly brilliant in every way. Panic! at the Disco, fun. and The Brobecks are all part of that same family of mod/glam-type rock that I loved as a baby and am loving even better now that the attitudes in the songs have been updated. My Chemical Romance also falls into this category, on the edges, but is here this week as a tail end to last week’s depression.

Panic was mostly the Denver concert and the new song. The CFOB Mixtape was the one Panic demo song. The Brobecks continues to wow me. Rise Against has been getting some decent airplay on Music Choice so I just had to listen to the whole album again. Good stuff. Intense. Cobra…I’m just not entirely ready to let go.

No big surprises here. I’ve got FOB, who are my happy place. The Brobecks that continue to make me happy. Tegan & Sara is all about rediscovering an old favorite. Green Day just rules. And Black Gold is so comforting.

As I continue recovering from the Panic at the Disco divorce, I am listening to them more and more. The Brobecks is such an amazingly awesome band and it irks me so deeply that more people don’t know about them. I wish I knew how to help raise their profile, get them gigs, get them money or press or something. Because holy shit so awesome. My love affair with Brody Dalle’s Spinnerette continues apace. Such an awesome artist. Tegan & Sara just always feel right to me. And Queen, well Queen is one of the foundation/key stones of my musical taste. So much love. So much respect. Their musical descendants (which I think both Muse and The Brobecks can claim to be) are faves of mine too.

Panic receding over Panic! ;)

I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t pun. The point is, though, that I’m finally starting to recover from the upset of Panic! at the Disco’s mitotic phase (and yes I know that’s an approximate metaphor, bite me). Seriously though, I was (and still sometimes am) much saddened by the split.

It helps tremendously having a tiny bit of new music from both groups and to see them being friendly on Twitter with each other. I know, I know - I define over-invested. But whatever.

Also, getting to discover The Brobecks thanks to Dallon Weekes touring with them as their bassist helped. He’s amazingly innovative and I just wish I could give him more money to make more awesome music.

Anyway, I knew I was really starting to recover when I was able to go back and listen to A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out again. I’m still not quite ready for Pretty. Odd., though I’m not sure why. *shrugs* Perhaps because of how they emphasized how much of a joint-whole-band project that album was? Maybe because I listened to it 12 hours a day for four days a couple of weeks before they announced the split? Whatever the case, hopefully I’ll be able to listen to it again soon.

Panic!’s songs really are a happy place for me and I don’t want to lose that because I am such an emotional listener. Of course, they wouldn’t be that much of a happy place for me if I weren’t so much of an emotional listener. Catch-22. Ah well.

Also, let me just say again that I love the ever loving hell out of New Perspective. And I enjoyed the hell out of the video for it. It made me happy. And I need that from my music.
