No big surprises here. I’ve got FOB, who are my happy place. The Brobecks that continue to make me happy. Tegan & Sara is all about rediscovering an old favorite. Green Day just rules. And Black Gold is so comforting.

This week seems so random. Really it’s just that I’ve been watching tons of tv (got the Tennis Channel \o/). Green Day was one play through of their 21st Century Breakdown. I really do love that album. Though by the end of it, I’m really ready for it to be over. It’s just slightly too long. I have no idea why The Brobecks is listed at 12, I listened to the whole album. Must be a time-cut-off thing. I fucking love their album and wish I could have more. The Beatles - that was me listening to Revolution a few times. I was inspired by the themes on the latest albums by Fall Out Boy, Rise Against!, Green Day, Depeche Mode and the upcoming Muse and AFI albums. Speaking of AFI, those plays are from their new single “Medicate” which I recommend. Empire of the Sun is the three free tracks I got via rcrdlbl.com. There’s just something nifty about those songs.

Commentary: These numbers are basically just for half a week as I’ve gone away from my computer and am no longer scrobbling. The next two months are going to be kind of barren in the scrobbling department really, since I have to borrow a friend’s computer to connect while I’m away from home. Oh well. :D
Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown
Vibrant, full of energy and passion. Keeps me coming back and entertains me quite well. I look forward to getting to know it better over time.

Commentary: Well, last.fm went insane during the scrobbling process this week. So my Fall Out Boy plays were in reality a minimum of 100 lower than the above number and my My Chemical Romance plays were a minimum of 80 higher. Green Day, Panic at the Disco and The Academy Is… look about right. *shrugs* That is one annoying thing about Last.fm’s iPod scrobbling. Anyway, the point is MCR is really the number two spot and that’s because it’s been a very rough week. Fortunately I’m about to get away for a bit and that will help tremendously. Green Day’s play counts reflect my enjoyment of their new album. It hasn’t consumed me the way Folie à Deux does, but it is very, very enjoyable and becoming more so with each successive listen.

I’ll want to listen before purchasing, but I really enjoyed Panic Switch, so I’m hopeful.
ETA: May 5th: I’m waffling on this one. I haven’t taken the time to really listen to a full stream of it, and that might change my mind. But for now this has been back-burnered.

I am intrigued by the little bits that we’ve heard, and I like the concept of how they’re structuring the album. I want this to be amazing.
ETA: May 5th: The first single has been released but I find myself reluctant to listen to it. There seems to have been so much effort put into creating a full-album experience that I kind of want to wait until I can have that. Until I can listen to it as one large story. *shrugs*
ETA: May 9th: Oh fuck yes, this will be mine come the 15th, I’m just trying to decide where I’ll pre-order it from. I streamed it off of Rhapsody (holy hell I hate that site) and fell instantly in love.

Taking Back Sunday - New Again

Well I’m full on in love with Carpathia (the song they gave away to those that bought the xmas cards) and I’m hopeful about the rest of the album. Seriously, June can’t arrive fast enough.

Spinnerette - Spinnerette

I totally love the Ghetto Love EP, I’m working on getting Sex Bomb (single) so I can’t wait for this album.! Female vocalist, awesome music, great lyrics. It’s an all around win.

Cobra Starship - Hot Mess

I love this band. They make me happy, they make me brave. I can’t wait to see what they do next.
ETA: May 5th: I NEED THIS OMFG! Seriously, the sooner the better.
And, hopefully, sometime this year we’ll also be getting brand new My Chemical Romance and possibly even new Panic at the Disco!
The Desolation Row reworking that My Chemical Romance did for the Watchmen movie was a giant tease, only making me want more (original) stuff from the band. Gerard has said that the new stuff will be “direct and very honest” and that excites me. MCR’s lyrics are amazingly powerful and their music sweeps me off my feet.
Panic at the Disco, well, quite frankly if they put out an album’s worth of material every ten months I might (possibly) be satisfied. Their potential and dedication just wow me and I really and truly can’t wait for what they do next. Watching them grow as individual musicians and as a band is very exciting. They do seem to be working on new music, so I’m hopeful.
ETA: May 5th: *taps foot impatiently* Seriously, both of these bands are amazing and the world (ie: me god damn it) needs more of their music yesterday!
