ATTN: TEXAS VOTERS!

feminismisprettycool:

Your Rights as a Voter

If you have your voter registration certificate, you have the right to vote without presenting

identification (unless this is your first time voting in a federal election in this county).

You have the right to vote without presenting your voter registration certificate.

If your name is on the voter registration roll, you must present one form of identification including

driver’s license (valid or expired), a picture ID that establishes a person’s identity (e.g., employee

identification card), a student ID, a library card, a “store” (e.g., Sam’s Club) card, birth certificate,

citizenship papers, passport, concealed handgun license, official mail addressed to the voter by a

government agency, a current utility bill, government paycheck.

If your name is not on the voter registration roll when you arrive at the polls, you have the right

to vote a provisional ballot. However, if you’re voting on Election Day, you must cast your ballot in

the correct precinct for it to count. To cast a provisional ballot, you must do both of the following:

o Sign an affidavit attesting to your eligibility to vote

o Present proof of identification

If you are inside the polling location or in line at your polling place any time between 7am and

7pm on E-Day, you have the right to vote.

If you have difficulty walking or standing for long periods, you can vote curbside.

You have the right to request assistance from the person of your choice (other than your employer

or union representative) if you cannot read, write, see the ballot, or understand the language in which it is

written.

You may bring written materials into the voting booth (such as candidate literature or voter guides).

You may receive up to two more ballots if you make a mistake while marking the ballot.

You have the right to ask the polling place official for instructions on how to cast the ballot

(but not for suggestions on how to vote).

You have the right to vote without being intimidated by anyone. No one except an election judge

or clerk has the right to talk to you in a polling place or in any way impede your access to a polling

place. This restriction applies to poll watchers, law enforcement officers, and state or federal elections

inspectors as well as campaign workers.

If your right to vote is questioned or you experience a problem at the polls:

• Don’t leave until the problem is resolved.

• Ask for help. Don’t cast your ballot if you are not confident that your vote is being recorded

correctly. Once the ballot is cast, it’s too late.

• Get information (election workers names, serial number of machine if malfunctioning, anything that

might be helpful in identifying the source of the problem).

Ahem… Let Me Clear My Throat…

butchwalker:

So… As you know, today is National Voter Registration Day…. Well??????? What are you waiting for?

ROCK THAT SHIT

I know… It’s a pain in the ass to vote… you know.. with all the twittering, face booking, self-portrait posting, TMZ slutting, clubbing, Starbuck Frappachinoooowww (sp?) slurping, reality TV show watching we have to do. Voting? disgusting. That’s for, like, old people, right? I can’t be bothered…

Well, I DON’T CARE WHICH SIDE YOU VOTE FOR or FOR WHAT YOU VOTE IN FAVOR OF… Just do it. Old people are getting lazy and frustrated. so are their mindsets. also, their “will to care” or vote for a future that they don’t have much left of, or have given up on the old fashioned set of ideals (you wouldn’t even be allowed to have some of the friends you have now if you were growing up in their times). This is YOUR SHOT. make your voice heard and register to vote so you can help shape our Country’s future. the older generation would love it if you didn’t, so if you really wanna piss off the old folks…. go VOTE.  or, if you’re the lucky ones, you will make them proud.

Every 4 years i start seeing everyone, even my fans, getting all pissed off at one another, and even ME (God forbid i have an opinion) or at the President for issues that probably their peers or parents have told them about, and therefore don’t even have a chance to form their own opinion. i know, i was one of them growing up in a small town, where i believed what i was told, not what I had a chance to figure out for myself. I have changed and swayed my opinions and beliefs several times throughout my lifetime, and I am glad because it only happened from living, growing, traveling, and LISTENING.

either way, have YOUR OWN VOICE and listen carefully… the less you care, the more you lose.

VOTE

sorry for the PSA….

it’s better than PSY.

Right or Left, I love you.

It’s Primary Election Day in Texas, y’all!

feminismisprettycool:

If you weren’t able to get out and early vote, here is a complete list of polling places in Texas by precinct. If you live in Harris County, you can look up your polling location and a sample ballot here. Not sure which precinct you’re in? It should be listed on your registration card, but since there has been redistricting recently you can also look it up through the county where you live.

Need some guidance on the primary ballot? The Burnt Orange Report, Planned Parenthood of Houston and Southeast Texas Action Fund, and the League of Women Voters Houston all have voting guides to this primary. The BOR leans to the left, PPHSET is dedicated to electing pro-choice candidates, and the LWV is a bipartisan group dedicated to electing representatives who are pro-woman*.

GET OUT AND VOTE, Y’ALL.

RECALL ALL REPUBLICANS IN 2012!

If I have to start at 7 in the morning to walk my happy ass all the way to the school where I can vote, I’ll be there. Never again will I allow an election to go by without me voting.

Are you a Texan who is SICK AND TIRED of this anti-woman bullshit? Are you wondering what you can do? The good news is, YOU’RE NOT ALONE!

WOWtex is an organization focused on getting the information out about how Texas representatives voted on the recent anti-woman legislation, and it makes clear that this is a bipartisan issue. You can check out their mission statement and learn more about the rally planned for the end of April at the capitol. You can also sign up to volunteer

The Texas Democratic Party has started a voting pledge campaign called, Enough is Enough. They also produced a video detailing how the Republican controlled legislature has infringed upon the rights of women in this state. Sign the pledge and say that WE WILL NOT VOTE for representatives who don’t stand up for us, on either side of the aisle.

Planned Parenthood organizations across Texas are organizing to combat this fight on women*’s access to healthcare, and you can volunteer or get more information from many of their pages. NARAL Pro-Choice Texas is a great resource for information about Texas legislation updates.

Annie’s List is a Texas-focused version of the national organization, Emily’s List. These organizations are committed to electing pro-choice candidates across the state and the nation. She Should Run is another organization focused on increasing the numbers of women in political office, and a great resource.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, we cannot hope to alter the state of Texas politics if we are not ALL registered to vote. Register to vote, inform yourself about the legislation in your community and across the country, and then refuse to be silent. It might make some people uncomfortable to talk about birth control and abortion, but do you know what else is uncomfortable? Transvaginal ultrasounds
