Congressman Todd Akin on pregnancy resulting from rape: “It seems to be, first of all, from what I understand from doctors, it’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut the whole thing down.”
State Delegate Todd Gilbert: “Forcing women to have an ultrasound before an abortion is justified because they already made the decisions to be vaginally penetrated when they got pregnant”
Senate Candidate Tom Smith compares a pregnancy caused by rape to having a baby out of wedlock.
State Senator Glenn Grothman: “Women make less because ‘Money is more important for men’”
State Representative Alan Dick : “If I thought that the man’s signature was required… required, in order for a woman to have an abortion, I’d have a little more peace about it…”
State Representative Chuck Winder: “I would hope that when a woman goes in to a physician with a rape issue, that physician will indeed ask her about perhaps her marriage, was this pregnancy caused by normal relations in a marriage or was it truly caused by a rape. I assume that’s part of the counseling that goes on.”
State Senator Glenn Grothman: “In promoting those campaigns and materials, the board shall emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect.”
State Representative Terry England on forcing a woman to carry a fetus to term even if she learns after 20 weeks that the fetus is not viable: “Life gives us many experiences…I’ve had the experience of delivering calves, dead and alive. Delivering pigs, dead or alive. It breaks our hearts to see those animals not make it.”We are not hysterical. We are not making this shit up.

DOCTOR WHO TOMORROW
DOCTOR WHO TOMORROW
DOCTOR WHO TOMORROW
August 2012
Condoleezza Rice (via Condoleezza Rice RNC speech: Romney speaks to black voters - Katie Glueck - POLITICO.com)
I want policies that actually respect my bodily autonomy, my right to privacy when it comes to healthcare, and my right to fair pay and equal treatment in the workplace. That’s what I want. Republican lady governors and senators notwithstanding, the GOP is not going to give women policies that do any of these things.
(via robot-heart-politics)
I want the GOP to stop pretending like they’re not racist and sexist because they bring your ass out on stage.
(via michelle-my-belle)
My first thought when I read this was that there’s no way such an intelligent woman said this. But she did and I’m floored.
What do I want?
I want Congress republicans to compromise instead of throw tantrums and derail any major, beneficial form of legislation possible.
I want my bodily autonomy respected and I want to be trusted to make my own decisions with whatever is going on inside my body.
I want to be able to go to medical school without having to put myself into a quarter million dollars worth of student loan debt or borrow money from my parents.
I want to be able to get a job.
I want to be able to take my birth control without having to worry that someone will make it illegal if they are elected president.
I want greener energy programs and more protections for the environment.
I want health care reform. I want to be able to see a doctor and not have to go into even more debt. I don’t want to have to worry about what will happen to my parents when they get older and medicare is no longer there for them.
I want members of congress to stop saying stupid, scientifically incorrect shit about rape, pregnancy, climate change, etc.
Parading a bunch of women around at the RNC is not doing any of that for me. Parading a bunch of women around at the RNC who are just pretending that they are part of the boy’s club, when, really they will always be a separate part that can be trotted around when someone makes a stupid legitimate rape comment isn’t doing SHIT for me.
Condoleezza, you are so much better than this.
Love,
Rabble

this is a really important fact that i need to tattoo on my forehead. none of these negates nor justifies the other.
lol another cracker ass cracker whitey white cracker thing to do
remain neutral
in the face of insurmountable bigotry and ignorance and aggression, they think it is some like, Jesus-level thing to do. They pull this Gandhian bullshit and think they’re the gods of everything and winning Life, especially when put up against uppity biased overly-sensitive brown folks who can’t seem to
GET THE FUCK OVER THEMSELVES AND PUT THEMSELVES IN THE SHOES OF BIGOTS and apologize for ignorance“let other people have their opinions even if they differ from their own!”. Because everyone knows racism is just a matter of opinion and is merely topical. They do this in terms of other -isms, too, hell, a lot of times even their own (and then use the fact that they tolerate bullshit with their -isms as the reason why others should tolerate bigotry they face for theirs). I remember I watched “365 Gay News” on LOGO (back when I had more of a tolerance for cis white nonsense) and this obnoxious, pretentious ass cis white gay dude was prattling on about how much cooler and better and enlightened he was from everyone else because he had befriended the Phelps Family, and Shirley Phelps-Roper was sitting in on the broadcast being a homophobic little shit AND ABSOLUTELY NO ONE IN THEIR MAYO-DRIPPING HONKEY MIND THOUGHT THIS MIGHT BE FUCKED UP, DISGUSTING, TRIGGERING, AND NOT OK.
In general, they think it is like, ACCEPTABLE to play devil’s advocate and argue against victims and “to find the context” and humanity behind extreme bigotry, regardless of how dehumanizing this is to the marginalized group in question. It’s mind-boggling how far removed from shit they are, so they can’t conceive having a personal stake in -isms they don’t experience NOT being perpetuated and they go hard into the wind to defend their neutrality as being this benevolent enlightened accepting position and it is SO shitty, SO fucking shitty.
I am not biased or close-minded or dogmatic for not wanting to engage in this borderline sociopathic shit. I’m not about to sit there and “get into bigot’s heads” or respect or understand them. I have me and mine to look out for, and that’s it.
