My Epic 2008 Music Review
Well, this was going to be short. And then I started writing. And writing. And kept writing. So yeah, 4000+ words later, done!
At the start of the year nearly all of my focus was on the upcoming Panic At The Disco album. I had slowly grown to enjoy A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, and then they played Nine In The Afternoon at the 2007 VMAs and I was hooked pretty hard. It caused an...

More Music-mas for me
This time thanks to the lovely Robin, my co-music-fiend. Who Killed Amanda Palmer (Special Edition) - Amanda Palmer:
Soooo lovely and unique. Ghetto Love EP - Spinnerette:
I am really glad I somehow accidentally found this group. Beyond the Horizon - People In Planes:
What can I say, their Vampire song sucked me in. *giggles*

Digital Folie
Folie à Deux - on iTunes: Exclusive Edition
- has the I Don’t Care music video, the I Don’t Care (Cobra Starship Suarez Suave Remix) bonus track and a digital booklet for $9.99, it’s DRM’d (of course). iTunes is not yet showing FaD in the Complete My Album area for me. I’ve already purchased I Don’t Care (original and remix), Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown...

All-American Rejects - When The World Comes Down
So, they’re streaming their album over on their myspace, which I totally appreciate. And it turns out that, lyrically, it’s just not for me. I do still like Gives You Hell. And I like the song Real World as well. I’ll probably buy those two songs. But despite lovely music and sweet vocals, I just can’t handle the lyrics. I am touchy about a few things, I know...

Hurry, hurry...
Ms. Postal Person!
I’ve been streaming Folie à Deux as much as my idiot browser will allow and I just can’t get enough. I just love it so very much. All of it: vocals, guitars, drums. The lyrics, though I’m not listening closely just yet, keep doing catching me off guard and making me think and feel and just fall in fucking love with this band. SO MUCH LOVE.
I will aim...

So much awesome...
I refused to listen to the leak of Folie a Deux, but Fall Out Boy is streaming it on their MySpace now so I can listen to it early!
Beware, it will start playing automatically. And Fuse has some additional promo stuff about the FOB concert they’ll be broadcasting on the sixteenth.
P!nk’s got another video out, this time for her song Sober. No embedding allowed, so here’s...

Merry Music-mas To Me
Because I will forget if I don’t write it all down, here’s my list (in ascending order of Must Haveness, sub-sorted alphabetically in descending order) of albums I’ll be getting over the next couple of months.
Maybe:
Dido - Don’t Believe In Love
- I need to test-listen again before I decide. I really like her voice though.
Lily Allen - It’s Not Me, It’s...

Lily Allen’s new video: The Fear
I really, really love Lily’s voice. I love how her accent is audible even when she’s singing. And I love the sharpness of her words.
This video has an oddly creepy feel to it that seems at odds with the pastels and pretty frippery of the visuals themselves. It’s a bit like the lyrics really, in that on the surface it sounds pretty and...

More Spinnerette
So good news, Spinnerette’s EP is coming out on December 11th on their site: http://spinnerettemusic.com/
And Spin.com had (along with a short little interview) a preview of another one of their new songs. I think it’s pretty groovy. I can’t wait!
Listen: Spinnerette, “Ghetto Love”

Suzanne Vega blows me away
She posts to the Measure for Measure blog over on NYTimes.com from time to time. I just love reading her posts, like this most recent one called “Which Side Are You On?”:
In the last few months I have had a chance to review a song I wrote in October of 2007. It’s called “Daddy Is White,” and I haven’t sung it out loud yet in front of an audience except to record a demo of it. My...

Update/Correction re: Amanda Palmer
In regards to my previous post on Amanda Palmer:
Amanda explains what actually happened. RoadRunner Records hasn’t dropped her, but she does want out of her contract since they don’t consider her music to be commercially viable.
So, slight detail changes and yet the overall problem remains. I hope they let her go so that she can get with a label that will actually support her for who she is.

New Music Tuesday!
Two awesome songs from two awesome bands are out now, on iTunes anyway:
Fall Out Boy - America’s Suitehearts - the cover art cracks my ass right up
The Academy Is… - Winter Passing - very lovely cover art by Andy
Of course, I’m not going to get a proper listen in tonight being super tired, but I’m still happy. :D
